Well this might not always be possible. But grinding is definitely part of the package with level-based RPGs like Kingdom Hearts. Even though it is not my usual speed, it’s pretty easy to find areas to level up in KH2. No matter where you are in your playthrough, there’s a spot just waiting for you to spend hours there slashing heartless (or nobodies) into oblivion.
Twilight Town
Starting small, we’re looking into the opening hours of the game in the Station of Awakening. Don’t worry though. All of Roxas’s XP gained here will transfer to Sora down the line. The nobodies in this set of rooms provide decent XP, so it can prove valuable to spend some time in this spot and level up. Or once you’re past this tutorial and you actually get into Twilight Town, you can keep grinding nobodies in the forst area (or near the mansion area). And just like with many rooms in the game, leaving and re-entering will respawn the enemies. Just keep in mind that this method will only work to a point, as the XP gained from the nobodies will become less and less effective as you gain more levels. Not to mention that you’ll make no progress with drive forms as Roxas. I’d say this early tutorial phase may prove useful to glow up a few levels, but then it’d be time to move on.
The Land of Dragons
There are plenty of areas in Mulan’s world where Heartless spawn. But for the first visit, the Mountain Trail may be the most effective spot. This is also a useful area for leveling up Valor Form, since one hit translates to 1XP. However, the Assault Rider Heartless will often appear here and around the whole world. And they drop a ton of Drive orbs which makes the Antechamber (and the surrounding areas) one of the best spots to level up the Master Form too.
Space Paranoids
Starting from Pit Cell, defeat all the Heartless up until you reach the Solar Sailor. Then leave the world and return again. You can use this method to keep spawning and fighting Heartless for quite a while. And the Solar Sailor does not need to be in motion for more enemies to spawn. This is a great location for regular XP, along with leveling up Valor and Wisdom Drive forms. Especially since full heartless kills are what actually grant the Wisdom Form XP.
Radiant Garden
Now this is the first world you visit with Sora’s new drive mechanic. It might be prudent to know that if you choose to leave a world while your drive mode is activated, that meter will be at max whenever you return to any world. This allows for easier grinding in any area with a save point nearby. Much later into the game (in KH 2.5), entering Transport to Remembrance allows for waves of Nobodies to appear, all of them granting you plenty of XP. The only real catch to this area is that it’s not terribly viable unless you’re at least level 50 already.
The World That Never Was
TWTNW has a lot of grind spots worth noting. The First being Memory Skyscraper. This area is useful for leveling Wisdom Form – because again, getting kills with this form is key. The second spot is Naught’s Skyway. Not only is this an effective area to earn XP, but it’s also an excellent spot to level up Final Form. More specifically, Final Form gains XP from defeating Nobodies. In fact, it might be more substantial to run though all of The World That Never Was to gain XP for Final Form. It’s all good here!
